Patients who DO NOT follow our pre-treatment recommendations may have their 100% Money Back Guarantee entitlement cancelled.

1. Hair + Scalp Preparation

Young happy smiling man washing hair.

  • We recommend using a quality shampoo and conditioner that helps to promote the health of your scalp and also your hair.
  • Bosley Professional Shampoo and Conditioner is a great option because it is powerful enough to thoroughly cleanse the scalp YET gentle enough that it doesn’t dry out your scalp.
  • Patients may be recommended to us
e Bosley Shampoo and Conditioner WITH our aloe vera gel OR in some cases we may suggest using only our aloe vera gel instead of a shampoo or conditioner (our staff will inform you when they do an assessment of your hair and scalp)
  • All patients are recommended to wash their hair with Shampoo and Conditioner, every night prior to going to bed.
  • Below are the instructions if you are using Bosley Shampoo + Conditioner with our Aloe Vera Gel:

    • RINSE: Thoroughly rinse your hair and scalp for 30 sec using water that is warm (but not excessively hot). This will help to open your skin pores and remove any build up of hair products, pollution or dry skin/oils from your scalp.
SHAMPOO: Apply a 5c coin sized amount of shampoo to your scalp and firmly massage the scalp. Continue to deeply massage the scalp for approx 30sec.
    • RINSE: Thoroughly rinse the scalp. Shampoos often need to be rinsed twice because it can cling to your hair which can result in your hair drying out and becoming prone to breakage.
    • CONDITIONER: Apply a 5c coin sized amount of conditioner to your scalp/hair and massage into the scalp. Leave the conditioner on for 3-5mins.
    • RINSE: Thoroughly rinse the scalp.
    • DRY: Using a towel, pat dry your hair and scalp to remove excess water. However, keep the scalp and hair partially damp/wet.
ALOE VERA GEL: Apply 1-2 teaspoons of Great Directions’ exclusive certified organic aloe vera gel to your scalp and firmly massage it in for 30sec.
WAIT 1 to 12hrs: Then rinse out the aloe vera gel using water (don’t use shampoo or conditioner). Ideally sleep with the gel on, it will set and dry within 30mins of you applying it so it won’t damage your pillows or sheets.
  • Do not apply any oils, serums or minoxidil for at least 2 days prior to your PRP treatment and for at least 24hrs after your treatment.
  • If you wear hair fibres, make sure you are thoroughly rinsing and washing them out EVERY night before going to bed. Plus on the day of the treatment, please do NOT apply any hair fibres or concealer to the scalp at all.
  • Do not colour or dye your hair 1 week prior to your PRP treatment or for 72hrs after your treatment.
  • Avoid having hair extensions put in 1 week prior or 1 week after receiving your PRP treatment.
  • Do not receive any hair treatments for 1 week prior to your PRP treatment (eg Chemical Straightening or Keratin Treatments) or for 1 week after your treatment,

2. Diet & Nutrition Preparation:

Vitamin C and Hair Loss

  • Complying with ALL points within this section will SIGNIFICANTLY impact the results that you experience from your PRP treatments.
  • Consume the following for at least 2 days prior to your treatment (eg. The day prior and the day of the treatment – is the minimum requirement!)

    3 x Cups of Fruit
    • Eg. Banana, Berries, Mango, Citrus Fruit & Pineapple.
    • Unfortunately the following fruit are considered to be healthy eating options, however will have less impact on your PRP treatment as compared with the fruits listed above. Therefore, the following fruit will not contribute towards the recommended 3 x cups of fruit per day; watermelon, apples, pears, grapes, cherries, plums, apricot, rock melon, honeydew melon etc.
    • Please note juices are not an acceptable substitute for consuming the entire piece of fruit

    5 x Cups of Vegetables
    • Eg. Kale, Spinach, Sweet Potato, Carrot, Beetroot, Broccoli, Asparagus, Green Beans, Peas, Dark Coloured Lettuce
    • Unfortunately the following vegetables are considered to be healthy eating options, however will have less impact on your PRP treatment as compared with the vegetables listed above. Therefore, the following vegetables will not contribute towards the recommended 5 x cups of vegetables; celery, iceberg lettuce, onions, tomatoes, corn, cauliflower, potatoes, cucumber.
    • Please note juices are not an acceptable substitute for consuming the entire piece of fruit

1L of Water per 30kg of Body Weight
    • This is very important to do on a daily basis – not just in the days leading up to your PRP treatment.
    • Not consuming this amount of water can result in damage to your kidneys (which can cause hair loss).
    • Do not drink more than 250mL per 30mins. Sip the water instead of drinking it quickly.
    • Add a squeeze of fresh lime or lemon to further help balance the PH levels of your blood prior to your PRP treatment.
    • It is important not to exceed this recommendation either! Because drinking an extra litre of water will mean you will need to consume MORE fruit and vegetables because the excess water consumption will dilute your blood.

Food & Drinks to AVOID for at least 2 days prior to your PRP treatment & what you can use instead:

  • Avoid Bread (all types) replace with Rolled Oats,
  • Avoid Pasta (all types) replace with Sweet Potato
  • Avoid Rice (all types) replace with Quinoa or mashed Sweet Potato
  • Avoid Breakfast Cereals unless it is Rolled Oats.
  • Avoid Pastries, Pies, Bakery Foods replace with a piece of fruit.
  • Avoid Fatty Meats eg. Minced Meat, Sausages, Kebab Meat, Fried Meats and replace with Lean Beef, Lean Pork, Chicken or Fresh Fish. It is ok to cook your meat in ¼ tea spoon of oil when grilling or pan frying.
  • Avoid Curries (all types) and replace with stir fry meals that have less than 1/4 teaspoon of oil per person.
  • Avoid Fried Food and replace it with grilled or oven roasted alternatives.
  • Avoid Juices unless the juice is made fresh by yourself. Pre-bottled juices contain preservatives which are chemical additives and they will negatively impact your PRP.
  • Avoid Soft Drinks + Sugary Drinks and replace with fresh water with fresh lemon or lime. Decaffeinated tea and coffee is an acceptable option but is not a substitute for your daily fresh water intake.
  • Avoid Caffeine remember caffeine appears in soft drinks, pre-workout gym supplements, tea, coffee and also chocolate. Replace with Acetyl L Carnitine to minimise caffeine withdrawals.
  • Avoid Alcohol this is a mandatory requirement.
  • Avoid All Smoking Related Activities.
  • Avoid Fish Oil, Anti-Inflammatory Medication (such as Nurofen, Advil and Ibuprofen) for at least 2 days prior as they may inhibit/restrict the strength of your platelets. ***However if you have been prescribed any medication such as anti-inflammatories or anti-coagulation medication (aka aspirin or warfarin), please contact our office and/or your prescribing doctor prior to altering anything.

The “Recipe for Succcess”

  • If you compared eating 1 x piece of fruit in the MORNING vs the EVENING, the body will absorb MORE of the nutrients if it is eaten in the MORNING vs eating the same piece of fruit in the EVENING.
  • Eating the below “Recipe for Success” every morning for breakfast for at least 2 days prior to your PRP treatment will noticeably enhance the results from your PRP treatments. (Ideally every morning for 7 days prior would be ideal!)INGREDIENTS

prp for face skin rejuvenation

  • Aim to ensure you aim to get 6-8hrs of continuous rest for at least 2 nights prior to your PRP treatment.
  • Use a diary or journal to record your to-do lists down, that way you can allow the brain to rest and relax, therefore promoting a better night’s sleep.
  • Do not do any exercise or gym activity for 24hrs prior to your PRP treatment or 24hrs after your PRP treatment
  • If you start to become sick or ill within 2 days of your PRP treatment, you should consider rescheduling it.
